Helping you to live a "greener" healthier life!

January 2009

Happy New Year!

In this issue is included ideas on helping you and your kids be more green in 2009, January specials and Inspirational Thoughts for the Month.

Be More Green In 2009!

Being more green may mean cutting down on your carbon footprint.

Our carbon footprint is a "measure of the impact that human activities have on the environment in terms of the amount of greenhouse gases produced, measured in units of carbon dioxide". These gases are produced by burning fossil fuels for everyday use. (from Wikepedia)

To check out what your "footprint" is go to http://www.ge.com/ivillage/calculator/# You maybe suprised at what it is, you could be doing better than you first thought.

Looking for ways to be more green when packaging your kids lunches for school, check out this site: www.KidsKonserve.com . You might even want some of these cloth lunch bags and stainless steel dishes and water bottles for yourself.

Microfiber dish cloths, facial cloths or the microfiber 12" x 16" cloths would make great napkins. They are reusable and quite absorbent. Or if you need a larger sized napkin try some of the 16" x 16" all purpose cloths or the 16" x 16" green suede cloths. Save a tree, use cloth!

Another helpful article on ivillage GoGreen was called "Go Green With Your Kids". They had ideas for all ages of kids to help you help them be more green. To read this article Click Here.

There are lots of ways to help you cut down on your carbon footprint. Here are a few:

1. combine trips when going out
2. lower temperatures in your home, especially at night when everyone is sleeping
3. wash and dry full loads of clothes, line dry too when possible, reuse your bath towel
4. use weather stripping to plug air leaks in your home, to help reduce heating & cooling costs
5. plant trees around your home, to keep it cooler in the summer time
6. cellular blinds or window coverings help to keep out heat and cold
7. turn off lights in your home when not needed or when leaving a room
8. take shorter showers or baths, or not using as hot of water, can help save on energy costs
9. put a timer on your shower
10. shut off the TV when no one is watching it, listen to the radio instead, it's cheaper to run
11. turn off your computer at night or when you are away from home
12. many times you don't really need to preheat your oven, just turn it on and put the food in, adding a few more minutes to your baking time

Using microfiber towels and cloths can also help you save on energy costs, for microfiber dries faster than cotton and on a lower heat setting.

Inspirational Thought For the Month:

"People have to face regrets. Becoming mature means learning to accept what you cannot change, facing unresolved sorrows and learning to love life as it really happens, not as you would have it happen. When someone attaches unkindness to criticism, she's angry. Angry people need to criticize as an outlet for their anger. That's why you must reject unkind criticism. Unkind criticism is never part of a meaningful critique of you. Its purpose is not to teach or to help, its purpose is to punish. Life isn't supposed to be an all or nothing battle between misery and bliss. Life isn't supposed to be a battle at all. And when it comes to happiness, well, sometimes life is just okay, sometimes it's comfortable, sometimes wonderful, sometimes boring, sometimes unpleasant. When your day's not perfect, it's not a failure or a terrible loss. It's just another day."
~ Barbara Sher

Testimonials

The bath towels are super absorbent, soft and light weight, which makes them very easy to use. An added bonus - they are thin enough to easily hang on a hook instead of a towel bar. Nice product, at a nice price. Donna W.

I love your towels and cloths! Thank you! The 20's x 40's work fine for wrapping my hair after a shower. I was afraid they would be a few inches too short, but they aren't. Karen Slater of St. George, Utah.

I had ordered 2 microfiber waffle weave towel sets (European Spa sets) for a vacation. Well, I have to tell you, those towels were perfect for the trip. They were just the right size and dried quickly. My trip was to Roatan off the Honduras, and it consisted of kayaking, snorkeling and taking lots of pictures. Kathy Shoaf
