I would really love to hear comments and testimonials on how microfiber is helping you clean better, more efficiently and the new ways you have found to use them; or how microfiber has improved your bathing experience. Just send them to support@merrymicrofiberbath.com.

Also if you have other "green" cleaning tips, recycling ideas that you would like to share with others I would appreciate hearing those from you also. A major goal of this business is to help others live "greener", cleaner, healthier lives and in doing so, we help protect the environment in the process. I believe we need to leave our planet cleaner than we found it, so our children, grandchildren and great grandchildren will also have a healthy, clean, productive environment to live and grow up in.

"Green laundry solutions"

One of things I have been researching out this month, on the request of my daughter (who needs to eliminate all fragrances from her environment) is fragrance free laundry, bathing and dish washing solutions.

Did you know that fragrances can act like an estrogen compound in our bodies and in our environment, causing hormonal imbalances in us, and mutations in the plant and animal world? (I learnt this from Dr. John Lee, who researched and wrote allot about using natural progesterone creams.)

When you reduce or eliminate unnecessary fragrances from your environment, your personal hormonal systems will be more in balance, and you help to keep our natural environment system purer. Fragrances, acting as xenoestrogens, puts us in estrogen dominance cycles, causing hot flashes, facial hair growth, impaired thyroid hormone function, and possibly cancer.

So ways of reducing your exposure to xenoestrogens is by

  • reducing or eliminating the amount of fragrance you put in your clothes
  • personally clean with
  • do laundry with
  • do dishes with
  • in your creams, make-up, or anything that will touch your skin.

Almost all chemicals can be absorbed through our skin into our bodies.

I found a number of recipes, online, for homemade laundry soaps, homemade fabric softeners, homemade dish washing soaps, and homemade shampoos and conditioners.

So I started experimenting with one of the laundry recipes. The first batch I made as a liquid, but later I found recipes for powder laundry soap, you use the same ingredients but just eliminate the water.

I made 4 gallons in my first batch, so I could share with my daughter and friends, and so I could get some feedback on what they all think. I found that my clothes seem "brighter" looking coming out of the washer, with the homemade liquid laundry soap, compared to boughten liquid laundry detergent.

All I used was a bar of Kirks Castile soap, grated, ½ cup of Borax and ½ cup of Arm & Hammer Washing Soda and water; this gave me 2 gallons of liquid laundry soap. (I used ½ cup per load of laundry). Next time I am just going to mix the ingredients together dry and use it that way, less messy.

I really liked this idea, and I think you will too.

  • First of all, you are not adding an phosphates to the environment.
  • It is safer to use, the castile soap is made out of coconuts, borax is a naturally occurring mineral and the washing soda is sodium carbonate. (Sodium carbonate is also used by pool owners to raise the pH in their pools). So there is no need for a warning label, like on store bought liquid detergents.
  • It is allot cheaper to make than buying liquid laundry detergent.

To read more "green" laundry tips go to my blog at http://www.merrymicrofiberblog.com/.

I want to express my thanks and appreciation for all who are using microfiber cleaning cloths and towels and microfiber personal care products because

  • you not only are able to clean better and more efficiently,
  • but you are also helping to save the environment, by reducing or eliminating chemical cleaner use.

Testimonials

The bath towels are super absorbent, soft and light weight, which makes them very easy to use. An added bonus - they are thin enough to easily hang on a hook instead of a towel bar. Nice product, at a nice price. Donna W.

I love your towels and cloths! Thank you! The 20's x 40's work fine for wrapping my hair after a shower. I was afraid they would be a few inches too short, but they aren't. Karen Slater of St. George, Utah.

I had ordered 2 microfiber waffle weave towel sets (European Spa sets) for a vacation. Well, I have to tell you, those towels were perfect for the trip. They were just the right size and dried quickly. My trip was to Roatan off the Honduras, and it consisted of kayaking, snorkeling and taking lots of pictures. Kathy Shoaf
