"Green" Fall Cleaning

Does your fall cleaning consist of thoroughly cleaning your home, cleaning up your vegetable and flower gardens, cleaning up the garage or whatever you need to get done, then I have some suggestions for you.

Green cleaning means using as few chemical products as you can.

You can wash your windows with microfiber cloths and towels and you don't need any window cleaner, just take a damp microfiber cloth and wash your windows drying with another microfiber cloth. Or you can fill a spray bottle and mist your windows, then wiping your windows with another towel for sparkling clean windows.

You can take another cloth or use the one you have washed your windows with and wipe out the sills and wiping off the screens, to get those windows clean before the winter weather sets in, like it does where I live in Wisconsin.

I have lots of flower gardens, so fall is a busy time for me, putting my gardens "to bed" for the winter. I take my hedge shears and cut off all the plants about 1-2" above the ground. If the flowers have had any disease problems during the growing season, I put them in one pile across the yard from my compost pile. All the rest of the foliage goes into my compost pile. If some of the plants grow tall or woody stems, I cut them into smaller pieces so they compost faster.

Last year I discovered that using my hedge shears made clean up allot quicker, over using a small hand clipper to cut off the plants, and with 20 flower beds, I needed a better system.

That is why I like to use microfiber, it is a more efficient cleaning "system" than chemical cleaners and cotton, plus it is healthier way to clean.

Put racks up in your garage or "gardening sheds" to hang your equipment on. I accomplished that by just pounding some nails in the walls, the width of the handles apart, to hang my forks, shovels, and racks on. That way they are neat and orderly, ready to be used. Gardening experts recommend oiling your wooden handles and cleaning and sharpening your blades, so they are all ready for the next years growing season. I oil mine with linseed oil, just putting some on a rag and wiping down the handles.

"Green" Skin Care for Cleaner, Healthier Skin

Did you know you can have cleaner, healthier skin by using microfiber waffle weave facial cloths to clean and exfoliate your skin, without the use of harsh chemicals?

Just moisten a microfiber waffle weave cloth or a microfiber suede cloth and gently scrub in a circular motion for 1-2 minutes. Treatments should be no more than twice a week or even weekly. You can use the cloth on a regular basis without the scrubbing motion, using it like a regular facial wash cloth. Using the cloth too vigorously or too often can cause your skin to become sore, for a little goes a long ways.

Using a microfiber facial cloth for exfoliating your skin helps to reduce acne, blackheads, brown spots, enlarged pores, rough skin, fine lines, red spots and dry skin.

The dirt grabbing ability of microfiber helps to keep your skin cleaner and healthier looking without the use of harsh chemical skin cleaners, and it doesn't scratch your skin like a loofah can.

So exfoliate, rejuvenate and clean your skin with microfiber facial wash cloths!
